The architecture is undoubtedly the product of its time. The concerns, needs and dreams that men and women of a given time have, materialize in the architectures that are built in that period.

We live in troubled times. The Covid-19 pandemic has not ended when a war begins in Ukraine and the prices of materials soar due to the scarcity in the markets.

Climate change is more than a threat now, it is a reality that we perceive year after year. There is no choice but to be environmentally aware, even if it is by force. We can no longer design buildings that are not efficient and that consume as little energy as possible.

It is in this very uncertain context that Casa Chequia was conceived. A single-family home located in a row of plots in Valdemoro, Madrid. A rectangular plot, completely flat, with very attractive views of a large park in the back thanks to a significant jump in the orography of the place.

A simple, rational, functional home whose initial approach is to control the final budget as much as possible, on this uncertain times. Excesses and unconventional materials are avoided. The OOIIO Architecture Studio Team proposed a highly efficient building, with a high level of insulation and very low consumption air conditioning.

Its rectangular floor plan brings together a comfortable distribution for the day-to-day life of the family that will live in it, without ever giving up the dignity and elegance of its urban presence, thanks to the careful composition of rectangular windows placed on its three façades.

Some metallic pergolas designed to cast shadows on the house are actually prisms that play three-dimensionally with the solid white cousin of the house.
