The basement floor, which would normally be understood as a dark and closed place, suddenly becomes a very special place, the natural light falls through the four patios at the same time, becoming an open, fresh, protected and very bright space.
It was decided to organize the program of the housing project required by the clients in the most efficient and simple way possible, always around natural light. For this purpose, the orientation of the plot was studied and the house program was distributed by strategically placing four patios, which are four light wells, four natural ventilation distributors, alternating and distributed throughout the site.
Between these courtyards grow volumes that reach different heights depending on the function they house. Thus, the highest one will be the one corresponding to the “noble” living-dining room area and the lowest one to the garage.
The house is white, clean, with simple and clear lines, with window openings precisely placed to enrich the composition of its vertical panels.
But the facades of the courtyards could not be shown as the rest of the house, they are the reason for the project, the heart of its architecture, so we express their importance also in the materials that cover them, playing with some hexagonal ceramic pieces, which highlight them and complete the composition of the whole house.
Materials are always fundamental in architecture, and in the case of this project one of them, ceramics, becomes the protagonist: The traditional patios of La Mancha usually play in their lower part with ceramic plinths that actually come from a much older tradition of the different Mediterranean cultures.
The architects of OOIIO have turned the traditional baseboards upside down, so that now the upper part of the patio is covered with hexagonal ceramic pieces and the lower part is clean of them.
A play of materials that accompanies the fall of light through the courtyards and fills this housing project with personality.

The work done with the interior design of the house served to complete and enhance everything expressed in the rest of the building, adapting at all times to the personal tastes of the clients, achieving a fresh, simple, original and fun housing project.
