Lava and landscape

We understand the Spa not only as a building, but as a set of interventions, both architectural and landscape, infrastructure and environmental throughout a territory.

After studying the area of action, we decided to propose a joint intervention that encompasses the entire area, so that the new set of interventions, not only the Spa, becomes a fundamental tourist and environmental node for the region and for the whole island.
However, the highlight of our intervention will undoubtedly be the Spa, located in a strategic point of the proposed environment, dominating the land over the thermal springs, which will make the system of facilities necessary for the proper functioning and efficiency of the complex easy .

The Spa will be a unique building that takes advantage of all the natural resources offered by this place in a very intelligent way: the sun, the sea breeze, the particularly beautiful landscape and the sources of fresh water.
In our proposal we understand that these natural characteristics of this lucky enclave must participate very actively in the conception and operation of all the proposed buildings.

We propose a project where users can enjoy water in facilities that will offer the visitor a wealth of different treatments, with flexible plants that can be adapted very well to the needs of the Cabildo or the Municipality of today and within many years.

Building operation:

After thoroughly studying the orography of the land, we choose the points that will have the best views and that will best allow an excellent landscape-building relationship and easy construction
We separated the program into 1 Spa building, 1 restoration building (cafeteria, restaurant and shops), a series of terraces open to the public with swimming pools and stepped gardens adapting to the terrain.

We build the building equipped as a Spa at the west end of the proposed area of action, since it is the point that best dominates the entire area of action and allows the building to function without interference from the rest of the activities, helping to generate a Relaxed and quiet area.
The Spa has two floors, and three terraces that adapt very elegantly to the orography of the existing land.
The first terrace is at the entrance level (the road), and is completely open to the public, so that anyone can go there to enjoy the scenery and the views.
The second terrace (will be the -1 floor) corresponds to the entrance level to the Spa. It is divided into 2 parts, a wet area, which can only be stepped on with footwear appropriate for the use of water-related facilities, where there are swimming pools, massage rooms, and an outdoor terrace with its cafeteria for drinking juices and continue the relaxation treatment and a dry area, where the reception, administration and changing rooms are located.

If we continue descending we reach the third terrace of the Spa (floor -2), totally humid, with hot tubs, sauna, swimming pools, and all kinds of water treatments. The whole of the Spa works quite well as a space for users to enjoy the benefits of the spring waters, enjoying at all times the very active interior-exterior relationship proposed thanks to the particular design of the building. The interiors are also fully integrated with the rest of the project, certainly obtaining very attractive and visual spaces.

At the same level of the entrance of the Spa is the second building of the complex, the cafeteria-restaurant, shops and auditorium.
This catering service building complements the tourist offer that the Spa proposes very well but does not interfere with it, and can be managed and operated independently and simultaneously. We believe it is interesting to consider it in this separate way since this increases the flexibility of its management, coordinating the opening hours to the public as it is most interesting, etc.

We generate the entrance to the whole complex right in the middle of both buildings (Spa and restoration building). So the visitor can reach the place and by a gentle and pleasant descent, choose if you want to go to the Spa, or have a beer looking at the sea, the gardens and the rest of the landscape terraces of the complex, or go down to the public pools and the beach .
The second building also stands out for large terraces that will make it much more attractive to sit there for lunch, have a drink or dinner, while greatly increasing the possibility of making the construction of this construction profitable.

We want it to be a very easy place to visit for the visitor, comfortable, fun, open and pleasant.
That is also why the roofs of all buildings are passable. They are always built in the same way as the rest of the terraces of concrete slabs, to facilitate the implementation, and not complicate the execution. All intervention will be the same. Concrete slabs as trays open to the landscape, concrete retaining walls and glass enclosures at specific points. The whole set will be understood as a coherent unit and not as several separate buildings, so that tourists and locals can come whenever they want to a beautiful and special place, to enjoy a unique environment easily identifiable thanks to its architecture.

The design of the plants is quite open, so that if the Cabildo or the competent authority in charge of managing the building wants the two buildings to be actually one, it is very easy to adapt our scheme, since we have only put them together, having the tickets at the same level.
In the same way, these proposed plants and architectures can include other types of uses without modifying the appearance of the set, being able to incorporate hotel beds to spend the night or any other function that is required in case of winning our building at the time of writing the project, due to the enormous flexibility that this architectural strategy allows us to propose.
