OFFICE REFORM MADRID RÍO

OFFICE REFORM MADRID RÍO

Creative spaces

Thanks to a series of won competitions and new commissions in the office, OOIIO Arquitectos decided to move its architecture studio in Madrid to a wider and more fun space.

For this purpose, the reform of disused premises was undertaken, located just in front of the Madrid Río Park, a large green urban space built after the underground of the M-30, one of the ring roads of Madrid.

The new OOIIO office benefits from this new large linear green lung, and from the enormous transformations that it is causing in the old degraded neighborhoods that grew along the highway, today neighborhoods “in front of the park” and finally cohesive with the rest of the city thanks to this great urban reform.

In the basement of a rationalist building of the mid-twentieth century, OOIIO architects have been able to get a cheerful, fresh, bright and pleasant office to work. Where before there was little more than dirt and premises abandoned years ago, now you can enjoy a comfortable and spacious workspace, connected with parks on both sides that communicates with the rest of the city, so it is easy to reach the office by bicycle, walking, skating,…

For the design of the interiors, the architects of OOIIO decided to play with a very special material: handmade Talaverana ceramics, which they knew well thanks to a couple of urban interventions that the studio carried out in Talavera de la Reina, Spain. In these projects, the OOIIO team worked hand in hand with local pottery artisans to reform degraded urban spaces in that city, using this local material of centuries-old tradition, normally used in kitchen pots and objects, but in These projects decided to use on an urban scale due to their cheerful color and resistance, expanding the size of the old ornamental motifs, as if they were advertising posters.

The large size of the Renaissance themes hand-drawn tile by tile by the Talaveran artisans, produces some very suggestive sensations now also in an interior space, at the OOIIO office in Madrid, while demonstrating to the workers and customers that Experimental ideas and concepts that are thought of in the study are then brought to reality.
